On International Women's Day in Adana, a non-commissioned officer who killed the assistant chief physician's wife with a service pistol was not saved by his defense in court, where he said, "I apologize to all our women." The court sentenced the non-commissioned officer to life imprisonment with aggravated conditions.

Dr. Feray Balkan, an Emergency Medicine Specialist and deputy chief physician at Nizip State Hospital, came to Adana to visit her mother. After spending time with her 12 and 4-year-old children on March 8, Balkan returned home and noticed that her ex-husband, non-commissioned officer Seçkin Ergü, had followed them into the building.

Balkan told her children to get into the elevator and go up to their apartment. Seçkin Ergü killed his ex-wife Ferya Balkan with a service pistol. Following the incident, Ergü was arrested, and a case was filed against him at the Adana 13th High Criminal Court for "Intentional Murder with Premeditation," seeking aggravated life imprisonment.

"I DID NOT FIRE INTENTIONALLY, I APOLOGIZE TO ALL WOMEN"

Defendant Ergün and the lawyers of both parties attended the final hearing of the case. In his last defense, Ergü claimed that despite their divorce, he occasionally met with his ex-wife, who insulted him. He stated that it was a coincidence that the incident occurred on March 8, International Women's Day, saying, "When I went to her that day and she insulted me again, I lost control and fired. I did not fire intentionally. I am very sorry. I apologize to all our women and humanity." The court sentenced Ergü to aggravated life imprisonment.
