The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, currently under construction in Guizhou province of China, will become the highest bridge in the world upon completion. Recent drone footage shows that this massive structure is now in its final stages.

The bridge, at a height of 625 meters, is nine times taller than the famous Golden Gate Bridge and two times taller than the Eiffel Tower. Spanning approximately 3 kilometers, the bridge offers a magnificent view over the Beipan River.

Construction of the bridge, which consists of 93 pieces and weighs a total of 22,000 tons, began in 2022. Approximately £227 million (around 9 billion TL) was spent on the project. Construction work is taking place at cloud level, and workers continue to work on the edges of the bridge to make the final touches.

This mega structure will not only be an engineering marvel but will also significantly ease transportation in the region. Currently, locals spend at least an hour crossing the canyon, but once the bridge opens, this time will be reduced to just two minutes.

Chen Jianlei, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Transportation Department, states, "The completion of the bridge will strengthen the economic ties between cities in the region, accelerating regional development."

Until the bridge opens, the title of "the highest bridge in the world" will remain with the Beipanjiang Bridge in China. Completed in 2016, this bridge stands at a height of 545 meters.

China's massive infrastructure projects are not limited to this. Similar mega projects are gaining momentum in different parts of the world. As construction of the unfinished Jeddah Tower resumes in Saudi Arabia, the planned Rise Tower in the same country will become the tallest building in the world at a height of 1.9 kilometers upon completion.
