The Antalya Governorship made a statement regarding claims that the entrance fee for Mermerli Beach at the Antalya Kaleiçi Marina has risen to up to 1,000 TL. The governorship announced that the beach is open to everyone and that the sunbed fee will be set at 500 TL starting today.
Following developments regarding the entrance fee at the historic Mermerli Beach in Antalya Kaleiçi, which has reached up to 1,000 TL, the Antalya Governorship made a statement. The governorship announced that the beach is open to everyone and that the sunbed fee will be applied as 500 TL starting today.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin shared his evaluation regarding the restoration and landscaping works at Mermerli Beach during a public safety briefing held last April.
PRICE DEBATE HAS STARTED
Governor Şahin stated that the beach has been allocated to the Antalya Governorship, saying, "The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change has allocated it to our governorship. As the governorship, we are making intense efforts there. The restoration work is not just about revitalizing the restaurant there; as we went inside, we saw that the walls beneath the building are almost collapsing. Some areas have turned into dumps, and some wall sections have deteriorated.
The toilets are unusable, and the park is inaccessible; unfortunately, one of the most beautiful spots in Antalya was in very poor condition, and we have spent a large amount of money. It has exceeded 80 million, and we will spend more. When it is finished, it will be a place that will bring pride to the people of Antalya. We are considering operating this place as a governorship company. Therefore, we want the price to be reasonable. We want people to be able to come here comfortably. We want all Antalyans and tourists to benefit from the sunset there. Our efforts are in this direction," he stated.
While restoration works are ongoing, it has been claimed that Mermerli Beach will be transferred to a private operator on May 30, 2025. The high entrance fees at the beach, which opened during the Kurban Bayramı holiday, sparked public debate.
ENTRANCE FEE IS 1000 LIRA
After the beach opened, it was reported that an entrance fee of 1,000 TL per person was being charged. It was observed that the receipts issued showed an entrance fee of 2,000 TL for two people, and the high prices of beverages also drew attention. The pricing policy applied was met with backlash on social media and in the city.
GOVERNORSHIP TOOK ACTION
Following the discussions, the Antalya Governorship announced that the sunbed fees at the beach would be set at 500 TL.
The statement read: "It has become necessary to make a press statement regarding the news titled 'Shock of 1,000 TL Entrance Fee at the Beach Transferred to the Governorship' in some media outlets. Mermerli Beach has been leased to our company AYDAŞ, a subsidiary of the Antalya Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate, on May 28, 2025, to the Puding Hotel operating in Kaleiçi, with the condition that it is open to everyone. The hotel owner who signed the contract as the lessor is Kerem Çankaya, a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. The daily rental fee for sunbeds has been determined by the operating company, taking into account the rental fees applied in the Kemer, Konyaaltı, and Lara regions. As a result of discussions with the operating company, it has been decided that the sunbed rental fee will be applied as 500 TL starting today."
