Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir experienced tension during a cabinet meeting due to the plan for the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza. In the heated cabinet meeting where Netanyahu shouted, Zamir opposed Netanyahu's military strategy and warned the other ministers to pay attention to their words.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly had a heated discussion during a meeting regarding the plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. According to reports in the Israeli press, during a cabinet meeting, Zamir was asked to completely occupy the northern Gaza Strip and push the population south.
TENSION ESCALATED
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the cabinet experienced tension when Chief of Staff Zamir responded to the request for the expulsion of Palestinians in Gaza to the south by asking, "How will we manage 2 million people?"
EYAL ZAMIR'S STRONG WARNING TO MINISTERS
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich accused Zamir of not following orders and causing a deadlock in Gaza.
Zamir warned the ministers to be careful with their words, stating, "You always say there is a deadlock in the Gaza Strip. There is no deadlock in the Gaza Strip. We are fully carrying out the mission you have given us."
In response to Smotrich's claim, "Surround the north of Gaza. This way, we can overthrow Hamas in a short time," Zamir asked, "Do you want a military government in Gaza?"
NETANYAHU SHOUTED
In response, Netanyahu shouted that while he did not want a military government, he wanted to eliminate Hamas, stating that as an alternative to the plan for the expulsion of Palestinians to the south, the Israeli army wanted to take complete control of the Gaza Strip, including areas where they had not conducted attacks due to fears of harming prisoners, which he claimed would mean killing all the prisoners.
Zamir reportedly acknowledged that they were using hunger as a weapon against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying, "Controlling hungry and angry people can lead to a loss of control." According to the report, Netanyahu said, "Prepare the evacuation plan. I want to see it when I return from Washington."
NETANYAHU IS HEADING TO THE U.S.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on July 7. Trump had announced that Israel accepted the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Hamas also conveyed its "positive response" to mediators regarding the proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Israel, announcing that it was ready for negotiations to implement the ceasefire.
