"I AM VERY SAD FOR MY BROTHER SIRRI, I COULD NOT ATTEND HIS FUNERAL"
The first hearing of the case in which artist Pınar Aydınlar, who was detained in the HDK investigation and arrested on February 21, is being tried on charges of "membership in an organization" and "making propaganda for an organization" was held at the Istanbul 13th Heavy Penal Court. In her defense, Aydınlar stated, "There was only one question asked of me. My name appears in a file during a search at the HDK building. I am mentioned as a candidate for the mayor of Kağıthane. I did not run, I am not a member of HDK. However, I participated in the elections as the co-mayoral candidates of HDP for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality together with Sırrı Süreyya Önder. I am very sad for our brother Sırrı, I could not attend his funeral.
My loved ones have died, Sırrı Süreyya Önder has died, Volkan Konak has died, Edip Akbayram has died, I could not go and say goodbye. My right to vote and be elected is being questioned. I am here because my name appears in a digital record; I am not a member of HDK. I had a candidacy for the mayor of Istanbul in HDP. There is nothing beyond that. HDK is already a legal party, and I had no connection with it."
PROSECUTOR REQUESTED RELEASE
The prosecutor requested release with judicial control conditions and a travel ban. The lawyers agreed with the prosecutor's request but stated that a travel ban should not be applied to Pınar Aydınlar due to her profession, and she should be immediately acquitted. The court panel decided to release Aydınlar. A judicial control condition was applied to Aydınlar with the requirement to sign on the first day of each month. The hearing was postponed to September 11.
