In Selçuk Neighborhood, a fire broke out following a natural gas explosion on the first floor of a 15-story apartment building last night. Upon notification, health, fire brigade, AFAD, UMKE, and natural gas company teams were dispatched to the area. The residents of the apartment were evacuated under the control of the teams. 16 people injured in the fire were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances. The fire that broke out after the explosion was extinguished by the intervention of the fire brigade teams.
3 PEOPLE IN SERIOUS CONDITION
Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe also came to the area to supervise the efforts. 3 injured individuals in serious condition were transferred to Kayseri City Hospital, which has the nearest treatment unit, due to burns on their bodies. After the inspection, Governor Akmeşe visited the injured at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Training and Research Hospital. Providing information about the incident, Governor Akmeşe stated that the injured individuals were not in life-threatening condition, saying, "The natural gas and electricity connections in the building have been cut off, and all necessary safety measures have been taken. We extend our best wishes to all our citizens. We wish a speedy recovery to our injured. Since we have closed the building for residence, we have provided temporary shelter for the citizens living there. If our citizens apply, we will accommodate them in our guesthouses," he said.
