Following the fake alcohol disaster in Istanbul that claimed the lives of 37 people in 4 days, another piece of bad news has emerged. In Küçükçekmece, a father and son fell ill after consuming fake alcohol at home and were taken to the hospital. While father Ahmet İnan was admitted to intensive care, his son Ali Can İnan experienced vision loss.

The number of people who lost their lives due to counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul has risen to 37 in 4 days. In Küçükçekmece, a father and son who ignored the news were hospitalized due to counterfeit alcohol.

FATHER AND SON DRANK COUNTERFEIT ALCOHOL

The incident occurred yesterday around 5:30 PM in an apartment on Ali Bey Street in Kartaltepe Neighborhood. Ahmet İnan (50) and his son Ali Can İnan (27) consumed counterfeit alcohol at home. After a while, Ahmet İnan fell ill. Upon notification, a medical team arrived at the house.

FATHER IN INTENSIVE CARE, SON HAS VISION LOSS

Ahmet İnan, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance, was placed in intensive care, while Ali Can İnan experienced vision loss. While the treatments of the father and son continue in the hospital, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.

4 PEOPLE ARRESTED

Meanwhile, in ongoing operations related to the use and sale of counterfeit and illegal alcohol; 15 suspects identified as having distributed large amounts of counterfeit alcohol to the market were detained, and 4 of them were arrested by the court on charges of "Intentional Homicide." While the procedures for 8 suspects are ongoing, 3 people were released.

29 TONS OF COUNTERFEIT ALCOHOL SEIZED

Since January 1, 29 tons of counterfeit alcohol have been seized in operations. The business licenses of 64 establishments identified as selling counterfeit or illegal alcohol have been revoked and closed. The judicial process initiated against the business officials is still ongoing. In operations conducted in 2024, a total of 302 tons of counterfeit alcohol had been seized.
