Atakan Özkaya, who plays the character Kaya in the series Uzak Şehir aired on Kanal D, has lost his father, Mustafa Özkaya (60), who was laid to rest. Özkaya was buried at Başıbüyük Cemetery following the funeral ceremony held at Maltepe Merkez Mosque.
The young actor Atakan Özkaya, who gained popularity with the character "Kaya" in "Uzak Şehir," announced the passing of his father Mustafa Özkaya through a post on his social media account yesterday.
It was learned that Mustafa Özkaya passed away in the hospital where he was taken due to a heart condition. A funeral ceremony was held today at Maltepe Merkez Mosque for Özkaya.
While Atakan Özkaya and his family received condolences in the mosque courtyard, his co-stars Ferit Kaya, Alper Çankaya, actor Doğukan Güngör, relatives, and fans attended the funeral ceremony. Mustafa Özkaya was laid to rest at Başıbüyük Cemetery after the funeral prayer.
'IT WAS AN UNEXPECTED DEATH'
Ferit Kaya, a co-star who attended the funeral, said, "We loved Mustafa very much. Atakan is like our brother. It was a sudden loss, and we are all very sad. I wish my condolences to Atakan and his family first, and then to all of us. He had a heart condition, but we didn't know it was fatal," he said.
'THE JOY OF THE HOUSE IS GONE'
Atakan Özkaya's aunt, Vildan Özkaya, who could not hold back her tears at the funeral, stated, "When I received the news over the phone, I couldn't believe it; I had to confirm it with a few people. Because he always joked, I didn't want to believe it. He was someone we loved very much; the joy of the house is gone," she expressed.
While Özkaya was not left alone by his loved ones and close friends during this difficult time, many condolence messages came to the actor's post. Sinem Ünsal and Ozan Akbaba, who acted in the same series, did not leave their friend Atakan Özkaya alone on his painful day.
