The first cases of monkeypox have been reported in the Southern African countries of Zimbabwe and Zambia. The virus was detected in an 11-year-old child and a 24-year-old man in Zimbabwe, as well as in a 32-year-old Tanzanian citizen in Zambia.

In a statement from the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care, it was reported that the country's first case of Monkeypox was detected in an 11-year-old boy who traveled to South Africa last month. The statement also mentioned that the number of Monkeypox cases in the country has risen to 2 with the detection of the virus in a 24-year-old man who has a travel history to Tanzania.
