The first comment came from Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek regarding the year-end inflation forecast, which the Central Bank changed to 43 percent. Minister Şimşek said, "Inflation expectations are approaching our target. The improvement in expectations shows the belief that our policies towards disinflation will be successful. We expect a significant decrease in annual inflation in July. The disinflation process will become even more pronounced in the coming months."
The Central Bank has shared the results of the market participant survey for the month of July with the public. According to this, the year-end inflation forecast decreased from 43.52% to 42.95%, and the dollar forecast decreased from 37.75 TL to 37.37 TL.
Regarding the expectation figures announced by the Central Bank, the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, also made the first comment. Minister Şimşek said, "Inflation expectations are approaching our target. The year-end inflation expectation has decreased to 43%, 12 months later to 30%, and 24 months later to 19.3%.
"INFLATION EXPECTATIONS CONTINUOUSLY DECLINED"
Since we announced the OVP, inflation expectations for 12 months and 24 months later have continuously declined. The fact that expectations are improving during this period when annual inflation is on the rise shows the belief that our disinflationary policies will be successful.
Although we expect a temporary increase in monthly inflation in July due to temporary effects, we anticipate a significant decrease in annual inflation. The disinflation process will become more pronounced in the coming months."
