U.S. President Donald Trump has officially enacted the 'Laken Riley Act,' which is the first law he signed during his second term. In accordance with the enacted law, Trump has instructed the preparation of a facility in Guantanamo Bay to hold 30,000 individuals for the detention of "criminal immigrants" who have entered the country illegally.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed the "Laken Riley Act," prepared to prevent irregular migrants from entering the country, during a ceremony held at the White House, thus legalizing it.
FIRST LAW SIGNED IN HIS SECOND TERM
Noting that the first law he signed in his second term is related to irregular migrants, Trump emphasized that the issue of border security is more important to him than inflation and other topics. During the signing ceremony, Trump stated that a large number of "criminals" from different countries have been able to enter the U.S. easily during Joe Biden's term and explained that they are now taking serious measures.
30,000 CAPACITY MIGRANT FACILITY IN GUANTANAMO
In this context, the U.S. President announced that he has instructed the preparation of a facility to hold 30,000 "criminal migrants" at U.S.-owned facilities in Guantanamo Bay. Trump stated, "Today, I am signing an executive order directing the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparations for a 30,000-person migrant facility in Guantanamo Bay. Most people don’t even know we have a 30,000-person capacity to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens who threaten the American people in Guantanamo. Some are so bad that we don’t even trust the countries that would take them back because we don’t want them to come back. That’s why we’re sending them to Guantanamo."
"EVEN THE WORST CRIMINALS WON'T ESCAPE"
Trump stated that with this step, the capacity of the facilities in Guantanamo would be doubled and that "even the worst criminals won't be able to escape from here."
LAKEN RILEY ACT
The bill, named the "Laken Riley Act" in reference to an American university student killed by an illegal immigrant, passed with the support of some Democrats from both chambers of Congress. For Trump, who stated that the most important issue for him throughout the election process is border security, this regulation is considered a significant "legal victory," allowing border guards to detain irregular migrants involved in various crimes without a court order. To enhance security measures at the U.S.-Mexico border, Trump signed a new presidential decree and decided to send an additional 1,500 troops to the border.
