The flag of revenge has been raised, regional war is now officially at the doorstep.

The death of Ismail Haniyeh has escalated tensions in the Middle East, turning into a regional war almost instantly. As country leaders make statements one after another, Iran raised the "revenge" flag.

Ismail Haniyeh, the Head of Hamas Political Bureau, who was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, was assassinated in his residence around 02:00 last night. It was reported that one of Haniyeh's bodyguards also lost his life in the attack. While the echoes of the assassination of Haniyeh continue, Iran sent consecutive revenge messages.

PROMISE OF REVENGE FROM KHAMENEI

Pezeşkiyan said, "Iran will make the occupying terrorists regret their cowardly acts," while Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei, in his speech where he promised revenge, said, "It is Iran's duty to avenge the blood of Haniyeh. Because he was martyred on our lands." The US, which was the focus after the assassination, stated, "We have no involvement in the assassination."

REVENGE FLAG LAST RAISED ON NOVEMBER 3RD

After Haniyeh's assassination, a red flag with the Arabic inscription "The revenge of Hussein" was raised on the dome of the Cemkeran Mosque in the city of Qom, Iran. The revenge flag was last raised on January 3rd after the suicide bombing near the cemetery where Qasem Soleimani's grave is located.

TO BE BURIED IN DOHA CAPITAL

Hamas, holding Israel responsible for the attack, provided information about Haniyeh's funeral and farewell procedures. According to the statement, after the funeral ceremony to be held in Tehran tomorrow, Haniyeh's body will be taken to the capital of Qatar, Doha. It was stated that the funeral prayer for Haniyeh will be held at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Doha after the Friday prayer on August 2nd. It was also mentioned that after the funeral ceremony, which will be attended by many officials from Arab and Muslim countries, Haniyeh will be buried in the capital Doha.

ERDOĞAN TALKED TO HANIYEH'S FAMILY ON THE PHONE

Meanwhile, President Erdogan spoke on the phone with Ismail Haniyeh's wife and children. The following was recorded in the sharing made on the official social media account of the Presidency's Communication Directorate:

"Our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a phone conversation with the wife and children of Ismail Haniyeh, the Head of Hamas Political Bureau, who was martyred as a result of the assassination carried out in Tehran. In the conversation, President Erdogan expressed his deep sorrow for the martyrdom of Haniyeh due to a treacherous assassination."
