In Bağcılar, guards conducting routine identity checks were attacked by four armed suspects. The guard, Uğur Gölçek, who was seriously injured in the attack, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Following the efforts of the teams, the four assailants were captured and taken into custody.

Yesterday at around 23:30, a total of 8 guards in 2 teams were patrolling the streets on 2177 Street in the Yüzyıl neighborhood of Bağcılar district in Istanbul when they warned suspicious individuals to "stop." The suspects began to flee and opened fire on the guards. In the armed attack, guard Uğur Gölçek was seriously injured.

INJURED GUARD BECAME A MARTYR

Gölçek was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the first intervention of the medical teams that arrived at the scene. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız visited the injured guard in the hospital. Despite all the efforts of the doctors at the hospital where Gölçek was treated, he became a martyr today.

Police teams launched an operation to capture the suspects. Security cameras in the area were examined. The footage captured by the security camera shows moments when 3 suspects were waiting on the street and fled as soon as they saw the police teams. Additionally, moments when the injured guard was taken to the hospital by ambulance were also recorded by the security camera.

THE ATTACKERS WERE DETAINED

With the efforts of the police teams, the suspects B.Ç. (19), R.Y. (24), A.Ö. (27), and K.Ö. (31) were caught and detained in Bağcılar.
