After a trustee was appointed, Tunceli Municipality Co-Chair Birsen Orhan, who was sentenced to house arrest for the charge of "publicly inciting the public to commit crimes," appeared before the judge. The court panel decided to lift Orhan's house arrest and travel ban, and adjourned the hearing.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak and Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül received a prison sentence of 6 years and 3 months for "being a member of a terrorist organization," trustees were appointed to the municipalities by the Ministry of Interior. Following the trustee decision, Tunceli Municipality Co-Chair Birsen Orhan, who made a statement by participating in protests held in the city, was detained on November 23. Orhan, who did not give a statement at the police station and was referred to the prosecutor's office after a health check, was placed under house arrest with a travel ban for the charge of "openly inciting the public to commit crimes" by the court she was brought to on November 24. While under house arrest in the Pertek district, Orhan was taken to the Tunceli Courthouse on November 30 for her statement regarding the charges of "violating Law No. 2911 and resisting to prevent the execution of duty." She was arrested and sent to prison for the charges of "violating Law No. 2911" and "resisting to prevent the execution of duty" at the court she was brought to. After her lawyers' appeal, Orhan was released on December 3.
