The Houthis struck Israel once again at midnight.

05.01.2025 08:40

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, who have been launching consecutive ballistic missile attacks on Israel for weeks, did not let last night go by without an attack either. After the attack, sirens were heard in the town of Talmei Elazar, located northeast of the city of Hadera, while it was reported that the missile was successfully intercepted by Israel's air defense system. Meanwhile, footage of the moments when the missile was intercepted was also released.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that a new ballistic missile was launched from Yemen towards Israel.

SIRENS SOUNDED AT MIDNIGHT

Following the missile attack, it was reported that sirens sounded in the town of Talmei Elazar, northeast of the city of Hadera, while it was noted that the missile was successfully intercepted by Israel's air defense system.

FOOTAGE EMERGED

Footage of the moments when the missile was intercepted was captured by amateur cameras. Israeli media reported that, unlike previous Houthi attacks, sirens did not activate in many parts of the country.

27 ATTACKS CARRIED OUT IN DECEMBER

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced that they carried out 27 attacks on Israel in December 2024. In a report on the Houthi-affiliated site "26sep.net," information was provided regarding the attacks on Israel in response to the genocide in Gaza and the U.S. attacks in Yemen.

The report stated that 27 "military operations" were conducted deep into Israel in December, noting that "Palestine-2" hypersonic and "Zulfiqar" ballistic missiles, along with numerous drones, targeted sensitive and significant military points belonging to the Israeli army.

SITUATION IN THE RED SEA

Since October 31, 2023, the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have been seizing commercial vessels they claim are linked to Israeli companies in the waters off Yemen, and have attacked some with drones and missiles in response to Israel's attacks in Gaza. Following the Houthis' actions, many shipping companies decided to halt their operations in the Red Sea.

The U.S. announced on December 18, 2023, that a multinational "naval task force" named "Operation Guardian of the Gulf" was established against Houthi forces with the participation of a group of countries, citing the threat to global maritime trade security. Following attacks by the U.S. and the U.K. on areas under their control in Yemen, the Houthis announced that they would target all ships from these two countries.
