An family on vacation at a resort in Thailand's Khao Yai forest barbecued despite warnings from wildlife officials. A herd of elephants, attracted by the smell of the meat, came to the campsite. Security camera footage shows three adult elephants and two baby elephants searching for food. A female elephant first pushed over and then completely flipped the family's Honda car. No one was injured, but the car suffered serious damage. Chaiya Huayhongthong, the chief of Khao Yai National Park, said that officials directed the elephants back into the depths of the forest. Huayhongthong said, "The elephants followed the smell because the guests were secretly cooking. The car owner was compensated a small amount. I would like to remind tourists to follow the park rules." Elephants can eat up to 150 kg per day. Experts in Thailand say that elephants have become accustomed to human food and have been causing trouble in homes and vehicles. There are approximately 3,500 wild elephants in Thailand, and encounters with humans have increased in recent years.
