Access to the Altındere neighborhood and Dikmetaş hamlet road, which were closed due to an avalanche in the Bahçesaray district of Van, is provided through the opened snow tunnel.

The heavy snowfall and blizzard affecting Van continue to negatively impact life in the highlands. In neighborhoods and villages far from the city center, transportation is occasionally disrupted due to avalanche risks, while citizens are struggling with difficult conditions.

ACCESSIBLE THROUGH THE SNOW TUNNEL

After the avalanche that occurred on February 5 in the Dikmetaş village of the Altındere neighborhood in the Bahçesaray district, the road was closed to traffic. With the efforts of the teams dispatched to the area, a tunnel was effectively opened within the avalanche mass. Thanks to this narrow passage, access to the village is provided through the snow tunnel. In the region where the snow thickness reaches several meters in places, citizens are descending to the district center through the opened tunnel to meet their basic needs.
