A young woman who was detained in Antalya regarding images taken in a mosque in Konya that sparked a strong reaction was released after giving a statement at the police station.
Footage reportedly taken at the Aziziye Mosque in the Karatay district of Konya, showing a young woman behaving inappropriately by dancing next to a man in the mosque, has drawn significant backlash under the title 'Even Harassing Your Girlfriend in the Mosque'.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TAKES ACTION
The Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an official investigation has been initiated regarding the individuals in the video, while it was learned that two individuals, A.Ö. (21), who reside in Antalya and had recently come to Konya, were detained last night by the Security Branch Directorate teams of the Antalya Police Department.
THEY WERE RELEASED
A.Ö., who was brought to the police station and whose statement was taken, was released after processing, while it was learned that legal action was initiated against him for the crimes of 'Insulting religious values, inciting the public to hatred and enmity' under Article 216/2 of the Turkish Penal Code.
