Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced this morning at 5:00 AM that the largest drug operation in the history of the Republic was conducted in Ankara. In the operation, which took 6 months of preparation, simultaneous raids were carried out at 626 different addresses. A total of 525 street dealers, referred to as "Torbacı," who were selling drugs, were taken into custody.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the largest drug operation in the history of the Republic, named "Narkopan-Ankara," was carried out in Ankara. The operation, which started at 05:00 this morning, targeted street dealers referred to as "Torbacı," who sell drugs. Simultaneous raids were conducted on 626 addresses, with preparations for the operation taking 6 months. A total of 525 dealers were taken into custody during the raids.
Sharing the details of the operation, Minister Yerlikaya stated:
""NARKOKAPAN-ANKARA" operation has resulted in the detention of 525 dealers.
We carried out the largest drug operation in the history of the Republic in our capital, Ankara, starting at 05:00 this morning:
The name of this operation is "NARKOKAPAN-ANKARA."
Our target in the operation was particularly the street dealers referred to as "Torbacı," who are the arms and legs of drug traffickers, selling drugs through internet-based communication platforms in neighborhoods and streets, preying on our youth. The preparations for our operation took a full 6 months.
During these 6 months, we essentially took another X-ray of Ankara. We conducted our field studies and analyses with great diligence. We monitored the suspects through technical and physical surveillance. We documented all activities related to the crimes one by one.
And this morning, we pressed the button.
A total of 4,768 police officers, 1,461 teams, 40 specially trained detector dogs, 4 drones, and air support units participated in the operation.
As a result; we conducted simultaneous raids on 626 different addresses. We took 525 individuals into custody. Our operation is still ongoing.
We once again clearly showed those drug traffickers who dare to steal the lives of our youth:
The street you enter is a dead end! If you dare to touch our youth, you will pay the price in front of the law!??
To those who attempt to poison our nation, we will make life a poison for them??
I congratulate our Governor, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and our General Directorate of Security, which carried out the NARKOKAPAN-ANKARA operation, as well as our Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Ankara Provincial Police Department, Ankara Narcotics Crime Investigation Branch, Technical and Operational Support Branch, and our heroic police officers.
