The latest scam by fraudsters was carried out through the "500,000 housing units in 81 provinces" project announced by the government last week. TOKİ issued a warning against fraudsters who are demanding money from citizens under the guise of application fees through fake websites.
TOKİ warned citizens against individuals committing fraud through fake websites for social housing projects. It was emphasized that citizens should not trust fraudsters demanding fake application fees.
WARNING TO CITIZENS AGAINST FRAUDSTERS FROM TOKİ
The Housing Development Administration (TOKİ), affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, warned citizens against fraudsters who demand application fees for social housing projects by imitating the e-Government and TOKİ websites.
THEY ARE REQUESTING APPLICATION FEES THROUGH FAKE WEBSITES
In a statement made by TOKİ, it was noted that recently, attempts of fraud and deception have been identified by exploiting citizens' demands for social housing. The statement indicated that these individuals, who are attempting fraud through fake websites and contact numbers, have been demanding application fees by imitating the e-Government and TOKİ websites, and it was recorded as follows:
"To prevent our citizens from being victimized, they need to pay attention to the domain names of the websites they click on. Our official website (www.toki.gov.tr), call center (444 86 54), our verified corporate social media accounts, and authorized banks should not be trusted, and no transactions should be made with anyone else. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in the mentioned fraudulent activities."
