Continuing his words, Babacan stated, "A commission worked in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey throughout the summer. This is a commission related to ending terrorism in Turkey. Following that, we wanted a commission to work on rights and freedoms. We supported this commission from the beginning. If you remember, when it was first announced, I said, 'It's a very difficult job. Even if there is a 5% chance of a solution, we will still support it.' We were one of the first to support it, even before Mr. Erdoğan started talking about it months later. Therefore, the Speaker of the Parliament thanked us and other party leaders for a work we have been involved in and supported from day one. For me, that photo does not carry any meaning beyond that."

Babacan emphasized that the reactions from the opposition actually came not directly from political parties but from the media supporting the opposition, stating, "For the first time in the history of the Republic, a main opposition party did not attend the opening of the Parliament. This is their own decision, and we respect it. However, the main criticisms targeting us come from the media supporting the opposition. If this media continues like this, the CHP will become increasingly isolated."
