Commenting on the inflation figures that exceeded expectations, Minister Şimşek said, "Food inflation, driven by agricultural frost and drought, was 3 points above the long-term average for mid-September and contributed 1.1 points to the monthly inflation."

In September, when schools started, the education group and other related items contributed approximately 0.7 points to monthly inflation. The main trend of inflation indicates that deflation will continue. We will ensure the continuation of deflation, which is our program priority, with the reduction of seasonal effects and the supply-side policies we implement."

In September, there was a 3.23% increase compared to the previous month, a 25.43% increase compared to the previous December, a 33.29% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, and a 38.36% increase according to twelve-month averages.

The annual changes in the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were as follows: a 36.06% increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, a 25.30% increase in transportation, and a 51.36% increase in housing. The effects of the relevant main groups on the annual change were 8.60% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 4.15% for transportation, and 7.85% for housing.

The monthly changes in the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were as follows: a 4.62% increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, a 2.81% increase in transportation, and a 2.56% increase in housing. The effects of the relevant main groups on the monthly change were 1.11% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.44% for transportation, and 0.44% for housing.

AN INCREASE OCCURRED IN THE INDEX OF 113 MAIN HEADINGS



As of September 2025, among the 143 main headings covered by the index (Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose - COICOP 5-digit Level), a decrease occurred in the index of 25 main headings, while there was no change in the index of 5 main headings. An increase occurred in the index of 113 main headings.



Excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold, the change in the CPI in September 2025 was a 3.34% increase compared to the previous month, a 25.94% increase compared to the previous December, a 32.86% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, and a 37.85% increase according to twelve-month averages.
