The legendary governor Yazıcıoğlu's son, who is a mayor, narrowly escaped death in a traffic accident.

In the Sungurlu district of Çorum, in a chain traffic accident involving 4 vehicles, 7 people, including Tokat Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu, were slightly injured.

The official car with the license plate 60 TB 001, in which Yazıcıoğlu was present, collided with a truck with the license plate 06 DNV 364, a car with the license plate 16 JHD 44, and a light commercial vehicle with the license plate 06 DKU 938 near the village of Şekerhacılı on the Sungurlu-Alaca highway. In the accident, Yazıcıoğlu and 6 other people in the vehicles were slightly injured. The injured were taken to Sungurlu State Hospital by health teams. Mayor Yazıcıoğlu went to the hospital in another vehicle.

STATEMENT FROM THE PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN OF MHP

MHP Çorum Provincial Chairman Mehmet İhsan Çıplak stated in his announcement that Mayor Yazıcıoğlu's health condition is good, that he escaped the accident with minor injuries, and that his treatment is ongoing in the yellow area of the emergency department of Sungurlu State Hospital.

After the accident, Yazıcıoğlu made a statement on his social media account, saying, "Dear fellow citizens; we thankfully escaped the traffic accident we experienced on the Çorum-Tokat road without injury. My health and that of my colleagues is good. I thank everyone who sent their wishes for a speedy recovery and ask for your prayers. May God protect us all from all kinds of accidents, disasters, and calamities."

ÇORUM GOVERNOR ANNOUNCED: THERE IS A FRACTURE IN THE CHEST BONE

Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan visited Yazıcıoğlu in the hospital and wished him a speedy recovery. Çalgan stated that a fracture was detected in Yazıcıoğlu's chest bone, saying, "Eight of our citizens were injured in the accident. Among the injured is our Tokat Mayor Mr. Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu. The condition of six of our injured is mild. One of them has been taken to surgery at Sungurlu State Hospital due to bleeding in the spleen."

Çalgan also mentioned that Mayor Yazıcıoğlu's health condition is good, stating, "We have received the good news that our Mayor's condition is also good as a result of the examinations. He was first treated at Sungurlu State Hospital and then transferred to our Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital as a precaution. In the examinations conducted here, a fracture was detected in the chest bone, commonly referred to as the 'iman board.' Our doctors have determined that there is no need for any other surgical intervention at this stage. He has a slight pain. After these examinations, our colleagues will likely relieve that as well," he said.

Çalgan shared that Yazıcıoğlu would be transferred to a hospital in Tokat, stating, "It was left to his own decision. Most likely, he will move to Tokat tonight. According to our doctors, he needs to be under observation for 2-3 days. Beyond that, there is no serious issue, God forbid, there is no life-threatening situation. It is thought that it would be appropriate for him to rest in the hospital for 2-3 days. Since the fracture is in a sensitive area, it is assessed that moving will cause him pain. For this reason, they will go to Tokat tonight."

Tokat Mayor Yazıcıoğlu was transferred to Tokat after completing his procedures at Hitit University Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital.

'SON OF THE LEGENDARY GOVERNOR'

Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu is the son of Recep Yazıcıoğlu, known as the "Legendary Governor," who gained recognition for his services in the provinces where he served as governor and for being close to the public. Governor Yazıcıoğlu was involved in a traffic accident near the Temelli neighborhood on the Eskişehir-Ankara road on September 2, 2003, and fell into a vegetative state two days later, passing away on September 8, 2003. His funeral was held in Söke, Aydın, on September 10, 2003. Recep Yazıcıoğlu served as governor in Tokat, Aydın, Erzincan, and Denizli.
