Footage has emerged of one of the suspects buying packing tape from a store before the incident, where a child in Fatih had their hands, feet, and mouth taped up while the moments were recorded on camera. In the footage, the child suspect who came to the store can be heard saying, "It's your friend's birthday, we're celebrating it, bro."
In Fatih, after an incident where a child's hands, feet, and mouth were taped and assaulted, 7 children were detained following images shared on social media. The suspects were caught on the store's security cameras while purchasing tape before the incident. Legal action was initiated for the crimes of 'Deprivation of liberty', 'Intentional injury', and 'Violation of privacy'.
THEY TAPED HIS HANDS AND FEET AND ASSAULTED HIM
The incident occurred in the Silivrikapı neighborhood of Fatih on March 14. The individuals who taped the child's hands and feet recorded the assault on their mobile phones and shared it on social media. After the spread of the images, police teams took action regarding the matter. The teams that watched the footage detained 7 children identified as having carried out the incident.
7 CHILDREN DETAINED
During searches of the detained suspects, a quantity of drugs was seized from one of the suspects. Legal action was initiated against the 7 suspects who recorded the violence they inflicted on their peers and shared it on social media for the crimes of 'Deprivation of liberty', 'Intentional injury', and 'Violation of privacy'. It was learned that the suspects would be referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
HE BOUGHT TAPE FROM THE STORE UNDER THE PRETEXT OF A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Footage emerged showing one of the suspects purchasing tape from the store before the incident. In the footage, when the store owner asks, 'What are you going to do with so much tape?', the child suspect responds, 'One of my friends has a birthday, we are celebrating it, bro.'
IT WAS REVEALED THAT THEY PLANNED THE INCIDENT
In the footage from the store's security camera, when the store owner asks the child suspect who came to buy tape, 'Are you going to tape a child?', the suspect responds 'Yes' and leaves the store.
"IF IT HAPPENED TO MY CHILD, I WOULD BE UPSET TOO"
The store owner, Muhammed Albay, said, "The young people were already coming and going constantly. One came, bought tape, and left, then another one came and bought tape. I asked, 'What are you going to do with this tape?' He said, 'Bro, we are just joking.' After a while, I heard noises from outside, and when I looked, they were taping the child, they were joking. I saw the footage on social media. If I had known that the child was subjected to such treatment, I would have intervened. They probably hit the child downstairs; since they had made videos of joking before, I thought they were joking again. But I didn't see the bullying part. They had done it to someone else 1-2 weeks ago; the child who was subjected to it had already made a joke, they threw eggs and tied him to a pole. They have such videos, we see them. I thought it was the same; if it happened to my child, I would also be upset to see these images. The child did not file a complaint, but his family has filed a complaint; I can't say anything justifiable about this issue. The innocent suffer alongside the guilty. Because I think the others among them have no connection to this crime, except for the one who bullied."
