The mandatory winter tire application will start tomorrow and will continue until April 15 of the following year. Teams will not allow vehicles that do not have winter tires and are not suitable for winter conditions to continue on the road. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated, "The application will be mandatory for all commercial vehicles transporting passengers and goods on intercity roads. A fine of 5,856 lira will be imposed on those who do not comply with the rules."
The winter tire application, which is mandatory for commercial vehicles and considered vital for safe travel regarding life and property in private vehicles, will start tomorrow. The application will be mandatory for commercial vehicles for a period of 5 months until April 15 of the following year. This application was previously valid between December 1 and April 1 of the following year.
VEHICLES WITHOUT WINTER TIRES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD
The application, initiated to prevent vehicles without winter tires from blocking the road and causing inconvenience to people, aims to prevent road closures in snowy weather. Teams will conduct stricter inspections on vehicles that set out without precautions and preparations, and will not allow vehicles that do not have winter tires and are not suitable for winter conditions to continue on the road.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE MANUFACTURING DATE WHEN BUYING TIRES
Winter tires provide better grip and high safety on wet, snowy, and muddy surfaces at temperatures below 7 degrees compared to summer tires. On the other hand, drivers need to check the manufacturing dates when buying tires for their vehicles. Even if the tire has not been used, it has a certain shelf life. Tires that have been stored lose their properties and do not maintain balance.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reminded that the "Regulation on the Obligation to Use Winter Tires" was published in the Official Gazette dated October 4, 2025.
Minister Uraloğlu stated, "The application will be mandatory for all commercial vehicles carrying passengers and goods on intercity roads. A fine of 5,856 lira will be imposed on those who do not comply with the rules."
