The maximum increase rate that private schools can apply next year has been clarified. The Ministry of National Education's Regulation on Private Educational Institutions was changed today. The new regulation has been published in the Official Gazette. For the first time, a step has been taken regarding the starting points of the tiers in order to prevent exorbitant price increases. The relevant article states, "Exorbitant increases cannot be made in the tuition fees determined by schools for the starting points of the tiers." PRIVATE SCHOOL PRICES ARE CALCULATED ACCORDING TO PPI AND CPIPrivate school prices are calculated according to the formula in the Ministry of National Education's Regulation on Private Educational Institutions. According to the formula, the maximum increase rate that private schools can apply in the next academic year is determined by adding 5 points to half of the total of the 12-month PPI and CPI. So, how much can private schools increase their fees in the next academic year? When this formula is applied to the inflation data announced today, the maximum increase rate that private schools can apply to their tuition fees in the 2025-2026 academic year has been determined as 54.8 percent. This formula only covers students in intermediate tiers. HOW MUCH WILL THE COST OF UNIFORMS AND STUDY SUPPORT INCREASE?There is no regulation regarding meal and service fees in the new regulation, but measures have been taken regarding other services. Accordingly, the fees for services such as boarding, uniforms, study support, international diploma, and certificate programs will now be calculated according to a formula. With the regulation, an increase of up to 5 points less than half of the 12-month PPI and CPI can be applied. Thus, next year, a maximum increase of 49.8 percent can be applied to these items.
