In Adana, Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar from the CHP, who was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of 'threat' by the local court, a decision that was upheld by the Adana Regional Court of Appeal and during the conviction period was imposed a political ban, evaluated the decision as an attempt to mortgage the political preferences of the people of Ceyhan. POLITICAL BAN ON CHP'S KADIR AYDARThe Adana 8th Regional Court of Appeal concluded the case regarding Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, who was under review for appeal and sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of threat. Accordingly, the decision regarding Kadir Aydar was upheld by a majority vote. While Mayor Aydar, who reached a 45% vote rate in the March 31 local elections, was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison, a political ban was also imposed on him. It was emphasized in the dissenting opinion that the complaint by the opposing member was made 13 months later, there were no witnesses, and the victims constantly changed their statements, thus the decision should be overturned and all defendants should be acquitted of the charges. "THE DECISION IS BEING UPHELD VERY QUICKLY"Aydar, stating that the court process concluded at an unusual speed, said, "On May 16, the first-instance court issues a political ban decision, it goes to the court of appeal on July 16, and today, in September, the decision is being upheld very quickly." "IT MEANS MORTGAGING THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE OF CEYHAN"Criticizing the decision taken by the court by majority vote, Aydar said, "By majority vote, a decision is made with 2 votes against 1, despite the dissenting opinion of a judge. This decision means mortgaging the will of the people of Ceyhan. A sentence of 25 months is given; if it were 24 months, there would be no need for a political ban. While non-political figures are acquitted, political figures are banned." Reminding that the decision made by the local court in May was appealed in July and upheld in September, Aydar stated that the will of the people of Ceyhan was quickly mortgaged.
