The Ministry of Interior stated that the claim regarding the prohibition of using Atatürk's photographs on social media and news sites during the July 15th Democracy and National Unity Day does not reflect the truth.
The Ministry of Interior issued a statement regarding the claims circulating on some social media and news sites that "the use of Atatürk's photographs is prohibited on July 15th, Democracy and National Unity Day."
REMINDER OF THE GENERAL CIRCULAR OF THE PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION
In a statement made from the Ministry's social media account, it was reminded that a circular was published by the General Directorate of Provincial Administration on June 25, 2025, regarding July 15th, Democracy and National Unity Day, and that it was emphasized in the said circular that care should be taken to include only the Turkish flag in all events.
"IT IS A DESPICABLE SLANDER"
The statement from the Ministry included the following expressions: "The claim that 'the use of Atatürk's photographs is prohibited,' as alleged on some social media accounts and news sites, is a despicable slander. Since 2018, every circular published by our Ministry of Interior regarding July 15th, Democracy and National Unity Day has included the statement that 'care should be taken to include only the Turkish flag in all events.' The aim is to ensure that only the Turkish flag is used in events held on a commemoration day that symbolizes the unity and solidarity of our nation, such as July 15, rather than political parties."
