The Ministry of Justice decided to expand the scope of the e-Court system as part of digital transformation, implementing it in Regional Courts of Appeal and allowing all relevant parties such as defendants, witnesses, and experts to benefit from the system.

The Ministry of Justice announced that the scope of the e-Hearing system will be expanded within the framework of digital transformation goals in justice services.

According to a written statement from the Ministry, after Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that technological steps to reduce lawyers' workload and accelerate judicial processes would continue, and that the e-Hearing system would be used in more cases and procedural matters, work was initiated. With the new regulation, the e-Hearing application will not be limited to first-instance courts; the system will be implemented in Regional Courts of Appeal, and not only lawyers but also all relevant parties such as defendants, expert witnesses, witnesses, and specialists will be able to be heard via e-Hearing. Thus, the goal is to increase speed, ease of access, and efficiency in judicial processes.

SPEED WILL BE INCREASED

The new regulation will also enable procedural actions such as preliminary hearings, rogatory commissions, oaths, interrogations, and hearing of parties to be conducted through the e-Hearing system. According to the Ministry's work, the e-Hearing application will not be limited to first-instance courts. The system will also be implemented in Regional Courts of Appeal. Additionally, with upcoming software developments, it will be possible for not only lawyers but also other parties involved in the proceedings, such as plaintiffs, defendants, expert witnesses, witnesses, and specialists, to be heard via e-Hearing. It is also planned that judges can decide on the e-Hearing method ex officio when they deem necessary, aiming to increase speed, ease of access, and effectiveness in judicial processes.

MINISTER GÜRLEK ANNOUNCED DIGITAL OPPORTUNITIES WILL BE ENHANCED

Minister Gürlek stated that technological opportunities and artificial intelligence-supported applications would be used more in justice services, giving the message, "We will continue to develop digital opportunities so that our lawyers can allocate their energy to professional activities rather than commuting to the courthouse."
