After the tragedy in Bolu, where 78 people lost their lives, the prices of fire extinguishers increased by 100%. The Ministry of Trade took action against opportunists exploiting the fire incident by conducting inspections at places selling these products and penalizing businesses that raised their prices.
While Turkey is mourning the loss of 78 lives in the tragic fire in Bolu Kartalkaya, opportunists have sprung into action. Following the incident, it was observed that the prices of fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment increased by 100 percent. The exorbitant price hikes have drawn significant backlash, prompting the Ministry of Trade to take action in response to complaints and allegations.
"NECESSARY PENALTY MEASURES ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED"
Fatih Uysan, the Press Advisor of the Ministry of Trade, announced via his X account that inspections regarding the sale of firefighting materials are ongoing and that penalties are being imposed on businesses that apply exorbitant prices.
In his statement, Uysan noted that the inspection teams affiliated with the Ministry of Trade are continuing their inspections related to firefighting materials, stating, "Necessary penalty measures are being implemented against businesses that apply exorbitant prices."
100 PERCENT PRICE INCREASE
The mini fire extinguisher, which was 414 TL before the fire, has been priced at 735 TL after the fire, and the fire blanket, fire extinguisher spray, and smoke detector have also increased by 100 percent.
