The Spitting Cave cliffs, located near Honolulu on the island of Oahu, are one of the most visited places on the island. The cave's name comes from the violent ocean constantly pounding the rocks and the appearance of the water "spitting" from the cave.

Many people have lost their lives at Spitting Cave. According to information provided by Honolulu Ocean Safety to KHON 2, in the last five years, teams have responded to 52 incidents of injuries from jumping off the cliffs, drowning, or near-drowning situations.

Former local resident Brian Lauro said, "If the rocks are wet, you can be swept off that surface and fall into the water, and you may not be able to get back out." He added, "We also don't want the water to be foamy. You can't swim in foamy water; it's like liquid quicksand."

Ocean Safety stated that no one should jump from Spitting Cave and placed warning signs.

Lauro said, "Just because tourists swim in a pool, lake, or quarry, it doesn't mean they can jump here." He continued, "Even if they are told not to jump on a dangerous day, they see our kids and think, 'I can do that too.' Then they get into trouble."
