The most expensive burial plot fee in Istanbul has reached 111,632 lira.

According to the tariff set by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council, the prices for vacant burial plots in the city range from 7,152 lira to 111,632 lira, depending on their category.

The third session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council's December meeting was held at the municipal building in Saraçhane, chaired by the Council's 1st Vice President Nuri Aslan. The meeting addressed the cemetery fees and service charges for the year 2025. The council determined the funeral services and cemetery fees that will be effective from January 1, 2025.



FREE SERVICES WILL CONTINUE



According to the tariff accepted unanimously as it came from the committee, services such as the mortuary, wooden coffin, funeral coffin cover, burial procedures, and transportation outside Istanbul will continue to be provided free of charge.



PAID SERVICES AND CEMETERY PLOT FEES



The fee for burial with a coffin has increased from 740 lira to 1184 lira, brick tomb from 1850 lira to 3700 lira, burial transfer excluding land fee from 3730 lira to 5968 lira, single-storey tomb from 4820 lira to 9240 lira, and double-storey tomb from 6170 lira to 12340 lira.



CEMETERY PLOT FEES ARE CHANGING



The cemetery plot fees have varied by groups. In the first group, the land fee for Karacaahmet, Nakkaştepe, Çengelköy 1st Section, Zincirlikuyu, Aşiyan, Nafibaba, Ulus, and Abide-i Hürriyet, which was 11,190 lira, has increased to 17,904 lira.



The land fee for the empty space next to the funeral has increased from 34,890 lira to 55,824 lira, the empty grave plot fee from 69,770 lira to 111,632 lira with a 60% increase, and the land fee for a child’s funeral has risen from 11,190 lira to 17,904 lira.



In the second group of cemeteries, which includes Emirgan, Edirnekapı Martyrs' Cemetery, Merdivenköy, Küçükbakkalköy, Bülbülderesi, Feriköy, Sütlüce, and Avcılar, the land fee of 2,030 lira has increased to 3,248 lira, the empty space fee next to the funeral from 13,990 lira to 22,384 lira, and the empty grave plot fee from 27,980 lira to 44,788 lira. The land fee for a child’s funeral, which was 2,030 lira, is now 3,248 lira.



In the third group of cemeteries, which includes Hekimbaşı, Kurtköy, Çekmeköy, Kilyos, Cebeci, and Kayabaşı, the land fee has increased from 170 lira to 272 lira, the empty grave plot from 9,330 lira to 14,928 lira, the empty space fee next to the funeral from 4,660 lira to 7,456 lira, and the land fee for a child’s funeral from 80 lira to 128 lira.



In the fourth group of cemeteries, which includes Ayazağa, Bahçeköy, Kemerburgaz, and Kısırkaya, which were previously classified as villages, the land fee has increased from 170 lira to 272 lira, the empty grave plot from 4,470 lira to 7,152 lira, the empty space fee next to the funeral from 2,240 lira to 3,584 lira, and the land fee for a child’s funeral from 80 lira to 128 lira.



In cemeteries belonging to non-Muslims, the land fee for a funeral has increased from 850 lira to 1360 lira, the empty grave plot next to the funeral from 8,960 lira to 14,336 lira, the empty grave plot from 14,550 lira to 23,280 lira, and the land fee for a child’s funeral from 340 lira to 544 lira.
