A mother and her 5-year-old son, who left home to collect mushrooms in Kastamonu, have gone missing. Search efforts continued throughout the night around the village of Kocaçam, with support from the family’s relatives and teams.
Huriye Helvacı and her 5-year-old son Osman Helvacı, who left their home in the Bozkurt district of Kastamonu, have not been heard from again. Following a report made by their relatives to the 112 Emergency Call Center, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE), the Kastamonu Police Department, the Kastamonu Gendarmerie Command, the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK), and commando units were dispatched to the area.
THEY LEFT HOME TO COLLECT MUSHROOMS
In the conducted search, it was determined that the mother and son were last seen in the vicinity of Kocaçam village in the evening hours. Teams are focusing on the possibility that Huriye Helvacı and her son Osman Helvacı left home to collect mushrooms, and they are continuing their search efforts in the area without interruption.
VILLAGERS ALSO JOINED THE EFFORTS
Relatives of the family and villagers also supported the ongoing efforts throughout the night. In the operations conducted with drones and dogs, no trace of the mother and son has been found so far.
"WE ARE SEARCHING EVERYWHERE"
Muharrem Tavukoğlu, who participated in the search efforts, stated, "We have come to the area where they were last seen with all our friends and young people, and we are continuing our search efforts throughout the night. We are searching everywhere. It is currently 2:00 AM. We are continuing the search, and hopefully, we will find them safe and sound. The last sighting of the mother and son was in Kocaçam village. There are reports of them being seen in a few other places, but we have not yet found any trace. We are trying to find them, and if we cannot, we will continue our search efforts tomorrow."
