The mother of the 3-year-old child, S.B., who was seen smoking at a street wedding in Eskişehir, was acquitted. Following the allegations that the child was smoking during the wedding, an investigation was launched, and the court ruled that the mother was innocent.

The mother of the 3-year-old child, S.B., who was seen smoking at a street wedding in Eskişehir, was acquitted in the first hearing of the case in which she was tried without detention. At a wedding in the Emek neighborhood of the Odunpazarı district last April, videos of a woman dancing on a carpet in the street were shared on social media. In the footage, the 3-year-old boy, who was in the arms of his relatives in the background, was seen smoking. Following the appearance of the videos on social media, the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation. An arrest warrant was issued for the child's mother, S.B., on charges of 'providing a hazardous substance for health' and 'violating obligations arising from family law.' S.B. was caught at her home by teams from the Eskişehir Police Department and taken into custody. After her procedures at the police station, S.B. was referred to the courthouse and released after her statement.

THE FIRST HEARING OF THE CASE WAS HELD

After the investigation conducted by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a case was opened against mother S.B. at the 20th Criminal Court of First Instance, with a request for imprisonment of 6 months to 1 year. Lawyers, as well as mother S.B., attended the first hearing of the case.

'HE BROUGHT THE PLASTIC HE FOUND ON THE GROUND TO HIS MOUTH'

In her defense at the court, mother S.B. stated that she did not accept the charges, saying, "The victim children would be my own children. On the date of the incident, we had gone to the wedding. My 3-year-old son E.C.B. brought the plastic thing he found on the ground to his mouth. I saw him inhaling the smoke from this plastic and took it from his hand. I did not commit the crimes attributed to me regarding my children. I am innocent," she said. After the defenses of the defendant and the lawyers of the parties, the judge of the court acquitted mother S.B.
