The mother of the killer who martyred Şeyda Yılmaz spoke:

24.09.2024 14:00

The mother of Yunus Emre Geçti, the criminal who martyred police officer Şeyda Yılmaz in Ümraniye, Pınar Geçti, said, "Would I want my child to be this bad? I told them where my child was, and I had him found. If my child has a record of 26 crimes, why didn't the state take action? Why didn't the state intervene? Why was he allowed to roam freely until yesterday?"

On September 22, 2024, around 11:00 PM in Ümraniye, Istanbul, a man named Yunus Emre Geçti (19), who had 26 criminal records for various offenses, was detained by police teams. During the arrest, he seized a police officer's weapon and opened fire on the police and bystanders. In the ensuing clash, police officer Şeyda Yılmaz (27) was seriously injured and, despite all interventions at the hospital, could not be saved and was martyred. Following the incident, the suspect was arrested and sent to prison.

THE MOTHER OF THE SUSPECT SPOKE

The mother of the suspect, Pınar Geçti, stated regarding the incident, "Do parents want their child to be in such a situation? Look, I am also injured. I have a daughter. I am after her. May God have mercy. My heart is broken. I really wish our police would have lived until I died. I wish I had taken that bullet. I wish I had faced the bullets. But let me say this: If there is something I can do, let them come. On Twitter and social media, they say, 'What kind of mother, what kind of father are you?' If you love your God, I am calling out to my state, would I want my child to be this bad? I am a mother, I am a father. I am injured. Go tell everyone this. If my child has 26 criminal records, why didn't the state take him? Why didn't the state take him away? Why did he walk around freely until yesterday?"

"I BEGGED THE STATE SO MUCH"

Continuing her statement, the mother said, "I begged the state so much. I went to the police stations so many times. I told everything." She added, "This child is a drug addict, this child sells drugs, this child uses drugs. I told all of these. I told all of these. Again, I told the location of my child. I found out where my child was. No parent wants their child to martyr our police. I am really very sad."

"I WISH I HAD DIED"

Pınar Geçti, who offered condolences to the family of the martyr, said, "May God give patience to his family. If necessary, I am considering going to his family. I wish it had been me instead of our police, I would have died. If it had hit me in the head. Look, I was injured in both my heel and my leg."
