A person who killed someone in a land dispute in Batman and had been on the run for 23 years was captured in Istanbul. It was reported that the individual was using the identity of his cousin who lives in France.
A person who was wanted for 23 years as a suspect in a fight in Batman, which resulted in the death of one person and injury of another due to a land dispute, was caught using the identity card of his cousin who lives in France and resembles him closely.
In the land dispute that broke out on January 17, 2002, in Batman, Halit Güzel, who was shot, lost his life, while his son Mehmet Güzel was seriously injured.
After the incident, the murder suspect was identified as İhsan E., and due to security measures, the murder case was sent to the Çankırı Heavy Penal Court in 2004.
HE HAD BEEN ON THE RUN FOR 23 YEARS
Following the murder, the Çankırı Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch's Wanted Persons Bureau teams began working to capture the suspect İhsan E. They considered the possibility that he might be in contact with his relatives. In the investigation conducted by the teams, it was determined that the suspect's family lived in Istanbul. It was assessed that İhsan E. could be using the identity of his cousin F.K., who closely resembles him and lives in France, and as a result of technical examinations, the suspect's address was identified.
CAUGHT IN ISTANBUL
With the information shared with the Istanbul Police Department, a coordinated operation was carried out, and the suspect was caught in the house where he lived in Istanbul with his wife. It was also determined that the murder suspect had used a fake press card to avoid being caught.
The captured individual confessed to being İhsan E. after showing the identity card belonging to his cousin, despite the detailed questioning by the teams. The person who had been on the run for 23 years was taken into custody. After completing his procedures at the police station, İhsan E. was arrested by the judicial authorities to whom he was referred.
