The mystery of the bones found in a black bag in a grave opened for a burial at the Old Buca Cemetery in Izmir remains unsolved. According to the forensic report, the bones belong to one woman and one man, both adults who died at least two years ago.

During a grave excavation in the Buca district of İzmir, bones were found placed in a black bag, aside from the grave owner. After examination, it was revealed that the bones belonged to one adult woman and one man. It was learned that the bones did not match any missing persons in the DNA comparison.

The incident occurred on October 15 at the Old Buca Cemetery. It was decided to bury Elif Küntaş (32), who died of lung cancer, on top of her grandfather Nurettin Küntaş's grave, who passed away in 1979. While opening the grave for the burial, bones were found in a bag inside Nurettin Küntaş's grave. The Crime Scene Investigation Department teams conducted an examination after the report. Later, the bones were sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution for DNA testing and identification.

THE BONES DID NOT MATCH ANY MISSING PERSON

The awaited report from the Forensic Medicine Institution has arrived. According to the report, it was determined that the bodies belonged to an adult woman and man. A DNA comparison was also made for missing persons. It was learned that the found bones did not match any missing persons.

"THEY DIED AT LEAST 2 YEARS AGO"

The results obtained from the examinations and investigations conducted at the Bone and External Examination Department of the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution are as follows:

"It was stated that the existing bones definitely belong to at least 2 different adult individuals, one male and one female. Although the morphological changes detected in the bones may vary due to several factors such as burial method, animal intervention, and environmental conditions, considering the findings such as weight loss, brittleness, and post-mortem wear of the existing bones without knowing the characteristics of the crime scene, it was determined that they could belong to individuals who died 2 years ago or earlier, although not definitively. In the examination of the soil samples sent, it was noted that no toxic substances were found. Finally, it was emphasized that no traumatic or pathological findings that could explain the causes of death were detected in the existing bones."

The police continue their investigations regarding the incident.
