The Temporary Government in Syria has changed the name of Tishrin University, located in the Latakia Governorate, to Latakia University, and the name of Al-Baath University in the Homs Governorate to Homs University.

After the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, the new administration is making changes in many areas. Most recently, the new administration issued a decree changing the names of two universities in the country.

TWO UNIVERSITIES' NAMES CHANGED

The decree published on the matter stated that the name of Tishreen University in Latakia has been changed to Latakia University. The name of Al-Baath University in the city of Homs has also been recorded as Homs University. The decree was published with the signature of the Prime Minister of the Interim Government, Muhammad al-Bashir.
