The first meeting of the new Party Council, chaired by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, was held. During the meeting, new structures were discussed, and Özel described the new period as a "period of struggle." The next meeting of the Party Council will take place on December 13.
The new Party Council of the CHP held its first meeting under the chairmanship of the Party Leader Özgür Özel. In the meeting where the new members entering the PM were introduced, Özel also presented his new MYK for approval. Özel, who described the period as a "struggle period," provided information about the new structure and the Presidential Candidate Office (CAO).
The new 80-member Party Council (PM) elected at the 39th Ordinary Congress of the CHP held its first meeting today as required by the statute. The meeting, which started at 11:20 AM at the CHP Headquarters under the chairmanship of Party Leader Özgür Özel, lasted approximately two hours. The youngest members of the PM; Kübra Gökdemir, Melisa Uğraş, Canan Taşer, and Bedirhan Berk Doğru were seated next to Özel at the podium.
In the meeting, 32 new members entering the PM were introduced by CHP Leader Özel. Following this, Özel provided information about the new structure in the MYK, explained the organization model in the committees and the Presidential Candidate Office, and mentioned that there would be valuable roles in the CAO.
ÖZEL EMPHASIZES THE STRUGGLE PERIOD
Özel defined the new period as a "struggle period." Party officials commented on this definition, stating, "It is very important that he did not use the term difficult. The struggle with the AKP is not difficult for us; our real duty is difficult after we become the government, and we are ready for this difficulty."
The new MYK list of 18 members, which was presented for approval at the first PM meeting, was also announced. The MYK retained 11 names and included seven new members. Former CHP Member of Parliament and Secretary-General of the CHP during Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's term, Bihlun Tamaylıgil, was one of the new names in the MYK. Tamaylıgil took on the role of Deputy Chairperson responsible for Employer Organizations, Professional Unions, and NGOs. It was learned that Özel specifically wanted Tamaylıgil in the MYK to benefit from her experience.
"SHOWING SENSITIVITY TO THE PROCESS"
Diyarbakır Member of Parliament Sezgin Tanrıkulu is another new name in the MYK. Also a member of the TBMM National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, Tanrıkulu took on the role of Deputy Chairperson responsible for Human Rights in the MYK. Officials emphasized that Tanrıkulu's presence in the MYK is directly related to the process, stating, "It shows the sensitivity the Party Leader has given to the process." Additionally, Bursa Member of Parliament Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu and İzmir Member of Parliament Gökçe Gökçen were also included among the names in the commission in the MYK.
GENDER BALANCE WAS CONSIDERED
Party officials pointed out that Özel paid attention to the gender balance in the new MYK, which consists of seven women and 11 men, similar to the previous MYK's ratio of nine to 14. "This is a topic that the Party Leader cares about very much. He established a MYK with a 40% ratio," they said.
UTILIZATION OF NAMES NOT IN THE MYK
12 names from the previous MYK were not included in the new MYK. Party officials stated that most of these names would take on roles in the CAO, recalling Özel's words in the last PM, "We will not leave anyone out; we will walk with everyone." It was learned that Özel told the newly included names in the PM, which had previously been associated with the CHP, "The CHP will make restitution in the long term."
THE NEXT MEETING IS ON DECEMBER 13
The CHP PM is expected to hold its next meeting on December 13. It is anticipated that Özel will announce the CAO staff at this meeting.
