The New York police issued a written statement regarding the additional measures taken for New Year's Eve. The statement indicated that alcohol, umbrellas, blankets, backpacks, large packages, and folding chairs would not be allowed into Times Square, where the New Year's celebrations will take place. New York City Mayor Eric Adams also announced that the bans would be strictly enforced.
