President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced during the Cabinet Meeting on January 6 that 2025 has been declared the "Year of Family." Erdoğan had announced the new steps to be taken within the scope of the "Year of Family" and the financial support to be provided to families at the Family Year Promotion Program held at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center. The Family and Youth Fund, which was first implemented in the provinces affected by the February 6 earthquakes, was expanded to all 81 provinces starting from January 13 as part of the "Year of Family." Following this news, couples planning to marry in every region of Turkey began to apply for the 150,000 TL loan provided by the Family and Youth Fund. Since that date, the number of couples applying for the loan has continued to increase day by day. As of today, a total of 80,193 couples across Turkey have applied for the marriage loan. The province with the highest number of applications is Istanbul, with 12,046 couples, followed by Hatay with 6,009 and Kahramanmaraş with 5,340 applications.

HOW MUCH WILL THE BIRTH ASSISTANCE BE?
Preparations for 'birth assistance' are ongoing, and it has been learned that applications will start soon. The ministry is expected to provide information on how and where to apply. As part of the assistance to be provided, a one-time payment of 5,000 TL will be made for the first child born after the implementation starts on January 1, 2025. This assistance will not cover children born before January 1, 2025. After the regulation comes into effect on January 1, 2025, a monthly payment of 1,500 TL will be deposited into the account of mothers who have their second child. After the implementation starts, a mother with three children will receive a monthly payment of 6,500 TL, a mother with four children will receive 11,500 TL per month, and a mother with five children will receive 16,500 TL per month. However, for a mother who has two children before the specified date of January 1, 2025, and gives birth to her third child after this date, only 5,000 TL will be deposited monthly for the third child, and birth assistance will continue until the children turn 5 years old.
