Linda De Sousa Abreu, a prison guard in England, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for having a sexual relationship with an inmate and recording and sharing the footage.

Linda De Sousa Abreu (30), who works as a guard at Wandsworth Prison in London, England, accepted the charge of "misconduct in public office" after being filmed engaging in sexual intercourse with an inmate in a cell on June 27, 2024.

"THIS IS HOW WE LIVE IN WANDSWORTH, BROTHER"

The incident was recorded by another inmate using a mobile phone camera and quickly spread on social media. According to a report by The Guardian, the inmate who recorded the video was heard saying phrases like, "'Kids, we are making history," "This is how we live in Wandsworth, brother," and "You know you're a gangster."

"SHOCKING VIOLATION OF PUBLIC TRUST"

Prosecutors stated that Abreu had an internet account where sexual content was sold and that she acted knowingly while filming an obscene video with Linton Weirich, who was arrested for luxury goods theft. Prosecutor Tetteh Turkson stated, "De Sousa clearly engaged in sexual relations with the inmate willingly and thought she could escape responsibility. This is a shocking violation of public trust."

15 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT SENTENCE

Linda De Sousa Abreu, who is married and a mother of one, was sentenced to 15 months in prison. It was reported that she would serve half of her sentence in prison and the remaining half on parole.
