The Law on Internal Security, which includes regulations regarding Internal Affairs Officers and amendments to certain laws and the Decree Law No. 375, has been published in the Official Gazette.
According to the law, which was accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on November 21, the inspections and evaluations to be carried out for the determination of first-class administrative officials will be conducted by the Ministry of Interior at most twice a year.
Retirement assistance, disability assistance, and death assistance will be provided to the members of the Police Maintenance and Assistance Fund who are members of the Security Organization or their heirs in case of death; retired members will receive participation share dividends and death assistance.
The firearm licenses of those who have had their weapon stolen for the third time or have lost their weapon for the third time will be revoked, and these individuals will not be granted permission to possess and carry firearms for 5 years from the date of the incident.
No time limit will be required for the firearm licenses that will be inherited by veterans and their parents, spouses, and children, or for those who will acquire them. PENALTY FOR ARMS SMUGGLING INCREASESThose who bring parts of firearms such as barrel, slide, body, frame, cylinder, mechanism head, extractor, claw, firing pin into the country or sell them will face imprisonment of 5 to 12 years. The minimum prison sentence for those carrying, purchasing, and possessing unlicensed firearms will be increased from 1 year to 2 years, and the maximum from 3 years to 4 years. HEAVY PENALTY FOR UNAUTHORIZED FLASHLIGHT AND ROOF LIGHTThose using unauthorized flashlights and roof lights will be fined 96,000 lira, their driver's licenses will be revoked for 30 days, and the vehicle will be banned from traffic for the same period. The vehicle registration and registration system data maintained by the Union of Notaries of Turkey will also be shared in real-time with the General Command of Gendarmerie. RIGHT TO OPEN LOCALS FOR ASSOCIATIONSAssociations that have been active for at least one year will be able to open locals; this condition will not be required for federations and confederations. If a neighborhood watchman has sufficient suspicion that a person or vehicle he stops has a weapon, he may check the person by patting them down from the outside to prevent harm; he may also check the sections of vehicles that are visible from the outside. Personnel of the General Directorate of Security who perform their duties with outstanding success may be awarded the "Medal of Superior Courage and Sacrifice," "Medal of Honor," and "Medal of Superior Service" by the Minister of Interior.
