A 16-year-old goalkeeper, Edson Lopes Gama, from an amateur football team in Brazil, passed away after saving a penalty during training.

Edson Lopes Gama, a 16-year-old goalkeeper of an amateur football team in Brazil's Amazonas state, died during training.

The young goalkeeper suffered a severe blow while trying to save a penalty kick with his chest, and this intervention led to his death. Edson Lopes collapsed in pain after being struck in the area directly between his rib cage and diaphragm.

The penalty he saved led to the end of the 16-year-old goalkeeper

DIED

Despite the first aid, Lopes passed away when he was transported to a hospital in Maues on January 5. The young player was taken to the hospital after a challenging 11-hour car journey due to rural roads.
