As January approaches, millions of citizens have started calculating the new price hikes. While retirees are waiting for the 6-month inflation rates, minimum wage earners are anticipating the year-end inflation. Civil servants, on the other hand, are waiting for the 6-month inflation figure to determine the difference they will receive along with the collective bargaining increase. Apart from these groups, there is also a segment curious about the increase rate for civil servants, which includes those receiving social assistance. Many social benefits such as the 65-year-old pension, disability pension, and home care allowance will also increase by the same rate as the increase for civil servants. HOW WILL IT BE CALCULATED?With the inflation rate for October, the 4-month rate was calculated at 12.06%. Now, the inflation rates for November and December will be added to this, resulting in the 6-month rate. This rate will indicate the inflation increase for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees, while it will also show the inflation difference for civil servants and civil servant retirees. The rate that will be formed for civil servants will also increase social support at the same rate. LATEST ESTIMATE FROM THE CENTRAL BANKAccording to the news from Yeni Asır, year-end inflation estimates are an important data point in calculating the 6-month inflation. Previously, the year-end inflation estimate was set at 41.5% in the Medium-Term Program, but it was later raised in subsequent announcements. Most recently, Central Bank President Fatih Karahan stated that they have raised their year-end inflation estimates to 44% while announcing the latest inflation report. Again, in the Central Bank's Market Participants Survey, the estimate was announced as 44.81%. WHAT PERCENTAGE WILL IT REACH?Based on the Central Bank's estimate of 44%, calculations indicate that the 6-month inflation rate is determined to be 15.45%. This rate reflects the 6-month inflation increase for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. For civil servants and civil servant retirees, this estimate results in an inflation difference of 4.95 points. With the collective bargaining increase, the January increase for civil servants and civil servant retirees reaches 11.25%. According to the Central Bank's estimate, without a welfare share or equalization, the January increase rate for civil servants is 11.25%. This rate will also be applied to all social supports. According to the Central Bank's estimate, the increase rate for civil servants will be 11.25% based on the 6-month inflation figure that will occur in January, and there is also a possibility of this rate changing. It is being discussed that a welfare share could be added for both SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees as well as civil servants and civil servant retirees. Last January, the low increase rates for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees were equalized with additional points for civil servants. Now, it is expected that the increases for civil servants, which were lower than those of SSK and Bağ-Kur, will also be raised, followed by the addition of a welfare share for both groups. This decision will be made after January 3 and will be enacted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. WHO WILL RECEIVE HOW MUCH?According to the Central Bank's estimate, the 11.25% increase in civil servant salaries calculated without a welfare share or equalization will also raise all social supports. The monthly payment of 4,181 lira received by citizens over 65 without social security will increase to 4,652 lira with an 11.25% increase. The monthly payment of 9,077 lira given to caregivers of sick or disabled individuals will also rise to 10,100 lira with this rate.
