The body found in an empty lot in Şanlıurfa has been identified as Iranian drug courier Omid Lotfipour. It was determined that Lotfipour died when one of the drug capsules in his stomach burst while he was hiding from the police.
A body wrapped in a blanket was found in an empty lot near the ring road in the Akabe neighborhood of Şanlıurfa's Eyyübiye district.
Citizens passing through the area on their way home noticed a person lying motionless wrapped in a blanket in the empty lot and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. During initial checks by the teams, it was determined that the person lying on the ground had lost his life. In the examination conducted by the teams, it was determined that the body belonged to Omid Lotfipour, an Iranian national.
HOMICIDE BUREAU TEAMS SOLVED THE INCIDENT
Lotfipour's body was taken to the Şanlıurfa Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. In the investigation carried out by the Homicide Bureau teams, it was determined that Lotfipour entered Turkey on Thursday with a passport from Iran and then came to Urfa by road. Police teams determined that Lotfipour hid when he saw a police checkpoint in the Akabe neighborhood and wrapped a blanket over himself to spend the night. While hiding from the police, one of the drug capsules in his stomach burst, causing Lotfipour to become ill; according to the findings from the preliminary autopsy, it was revealed that he died due to cardiac arrest.
NUMEROUS DRUG CAPSULES FOUND IN HIS BODY
In the examination conducted at the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was reported that Lotfipour's body contained an excessive number of drug capsules beyond what it could handle. It was stated that no application has yet been made by relatives to claim the body of Lotfipour, which is being kept at the Şanlıurfa Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
