The price increases that will affect our lives in 2025 have been announced.

15.10.2024 16:02

From the Motor Vehicle Tax to traffic fines, and from fee charges to administrative penalties, increases in many categories will come into effect as of January 1st. The countdown has begun for payments in those categories that will increase with the Revaluation Rate.

As the end of the year approaches, millions of citizens are focused on the annual inflation rate to be announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). This rate, which will be considered a reference for the increases in pensions and civil servant salaries, will also be decisive for the increase in many tax and penalty payments.

Due to the high inflation seen in Turkey, the expected response to the demands for increases from retirees, civil servants, and minimum wage earners, who have lost their purchasing power, has not materialized. Economists, who point out that the Revaluation Rate, which will determine the increase in taxes and penalties, is expected to rise significantly this year, have a common expectation of a 45% increase.

INCREASES WILL BE ANNOUNCED TO THE PUBLIC NEXT MONTH

With the entry into the new year, the increase that will be automatically added to the current wages will cause greater economic difficulties, especially for low and middle-income citizens. The Revaluation Rate, which will be confirmed after the inflation data to be announced at the beginning of November, will affect many expense items, from traffic fines to passport and driver's license fees, and from motor vehicle taxes to administrative penalties. While economists emphasize that the common expectation is at the level of 45%, a list of potential increased prices for the new year has emerged. Here are the expected increased wages as of January 1, 2025:

TRAFFIC FINES WILL INCREASE

The fine of 690 TL set for violations such as not wearing a seatbelt, not maintaining a safe following distance, driving without traffic insurance, riding a motorcycle without a helmet, and failing to yield the right of way is expected to exceed 1000 TL after the planned 45% increase in the new year. The fine for violating the minimum speed limit is expected to reach 2,183 TL, while the fine for driving under the influence of drugs is expected to reach 48,198 TL.
