Bluefish has also found its place in the fish stalls. The bluefish, referred to as the "prince of the seas," is sold for 1200 lira per kilogram. The price of bonito is 150 lira each.
"OUR FISHING SEASON WAS ABUNDANT"
Fish market tradesman Hasan Doğuş Tunç stated that there were plenty of fish varieties this season, saying, "This year our fishing season was abundant. Bonito was plentiful this year. It made the citizens, the fishmonger, and the fishermen happy. The prices of bonito started at 70 lira. The fish were small at first. Later, the fish reached a kilogram. Currently, 1 kilo 200 grams and 1 kilo 300 grams are sold for 150 lira. Occasionally, due to the weather, the price of bonito rose to 175 lira. But right now, bonito is sold for 150 lira," he said.
"BLUEFISH IS JUST STARTING TO SHOW ITS FACE"
Hasan Doğuş Tunç expressed that the bluefish season started late this year, saying, "Last year there was plenty of bluefish. This year, bluefish is a bit late. Bluefish is just starting to show its face. The price is a bit high, but we expect a slight decrease in price in the coming days, even though we do not expect an excessive abundance. There is bluefish in the Bosphorus as well. We have bluefish at our stall too. Currently, bluefish is sold between 1000 lira and 1200 lira depending on the fish. In addition, horse mackerel and yellowfin are starting to appear. Horse mackerel is sold between 300 and 400 lira depending on the fish. Yellowfin is sold between 500 and 600 lira," he said.
