In her statement, Geriş said, "I acted this way under the influence of alcohol and because Gözde gave drugs to my boyfriend D.Y. I regret it."

In Kadıköy, a lawsuit has been filed against the detained defendant Sibel Arya Geriş, who injured a young woman by pouring flammable substance on her face and setting her on fire, with a request for a prison sentence of up to 4 years and 6 months.

According to the investigation file, the defendant Geriş (28) approached the complainant Gözde Yılmaz (31), who was sitting with her friends in front of a venue in Kadıköy, and poured a liquid flammable substance on her head and face before setting her on fire. In the indictment prepared by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the complainant, whose face, neck, and part of her body were burned after the incident, had no opportunity to escape.

In the forensic report obtained, it was reported that Yılmaz had second-degree burns, but there was no life-threatening condition.

"HE INTRODUCED MY GIRLFRIEND TO DRUGS"

In her statement taken during the investigation, the defendant Geriş stated that she had been in a relationship with D.Y. for about 1.5 years, saying, "He was using drugs, but after we became a couple, he received treatment at AMATEM to quit drugs with my support. Gözde Yılmaz is a friend of D.Y. He introduced D.Y. back to drugs. D.Y. himself told me this."

"I DIDN'T THINK GÖZDE WOULD BURN"

Geriş claimed that she went to talk to the complainant to prevent her from giving drugs to her boyfriend on the day of the incident, stating that she was also under the influence of alcohol and had a drink in her hand.

While trying to talk to the complainant, Geriş expressed that she became angry at the complainant's mocking attitude and her giving drugs to her boyfriend, and she poured the liquid she had in her hand over her. She noted:

"I poured the liquid I had over Gözde. Then I lit my lighter. I didn't think that the liquid I poured contained a flammable substance and that Gözde would burn. That was not my intention or purpose. I acted this way under the influence of alcohol and the provocation of Gözde giving drugs to D.Y. I regret it. I accept the accusation as I have explained."
