It was reported that Mohamed Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, demanded approximately 50% of the club's share from the sale of Salah-related merchandise in Turkey, and all of the profit from sales in Egypt. Following these developments, Beşiktaş stepped back from the transfer.
Details have emerged regarding why the transfer of world star Mohamed Salah, who has been on Beşiktaş's agenda for some time, did not materialize. It was learned that the black-and-white management walked away from the table due to the heavy financial conditions and unusual image rights demands put forward by the player's agent.
ANNUAL 20 MILLION EUROS AND AGENT COMMISSION
The black-and-whites offered the 34-year-old Egyptian star an annual salary of approximately 20 million Euros including bonuses, and reached a preliminary agreement with the player's side on the salary. Agent Ramy Abbas reduced his initially demanded commission fee of 7.5 million Euros to 5 million Euros. However, the process stalled during the image rights negotiations.
ALL PROFITS FROM EGYPT, HALF FROM TURKEY DEMANDED
According to Oğun Şahinoğlu's report; the conditions presented by the player's representatives regarding image rights forced the management to step back. Approximately 50% of the profit from Salah-branded jerseys and products to be sold in Turkey was demanded. It was requested that all profit from product sales in Egypt be left to the player's side. It was stated that these additional requested shares amounted to a sum as large as the player's annual salary.

Speaking at a press conference on the matter, Beşiktaş Football Director Önder Özen confirmed that he and the technical team had previously met with Salah to discuss projects and goals, but the process stalled at the financial stage. In his statement, Özen said, "Requests came that would deadlock the negotiations. There are examples where jersey sales percentages are left to the player, but this must have a limit. We encountered an image rights demand on a scale that our club has never granted to any footballer before. Our president displayed a realistic stance instead of a populist approach and walked away from the table. Nevertheless, our offer remains on the table."
